I've got a C now!!

Recommended Posts

Picked up my M plate 2.0 16V on Monday I'm fairly happy with the car but I think it could be running better.

If anyone on here lives in Maidenhead/Slough area, where do you take your C's to be looked at?

Hi Simon,

There's not really any specialists in the area. I can recommend a good garage on the Slough Trading Estate. Its the only local place I take mine, trust the guys there 100%, very fair too. Ray Williams of Burnham - 01753 576853 - it's near the John Crane building. My mate always uses Exelers in maidenhead, but I think they're a little more expensive.

What colour is your C? I did see a silver one parked up the other day that I hadn't seen before, yours? Got any pic's to put up yet?

Dan

Cheers guys,

The car was advertised as black but as soon as I saw it I knew it wasn't. The log book says blue and I keep meaning to check the codes but couldn't remember where to check, it does say on C club pages somewhere...

Its very dark blue but I'm not sure its aqua unless the paintwork has just deteriorated with bad cleaning and polishing routines, the car was only used for weekend trips down the motorway and the occasional trip to the shops for a good 40K and the bloke seemed really sad to be parting with it (wife was 8 months pregnant) but he was no enthusiast, I caught him putting a can of coke on top of the car when I was walking down the road towards the car, not a good sign but maybe I'm being a bit over the top.(No on second thoughts I'm not)

First day of ownership I gave one of my housemates a lift to work, on getting into the car he decides to open the door not just enough to get his fat arse in, oh no!! he wants the door fully open and slams the door into a huge spikey bas***d bush, I wasn't happy and he was politely warned not to do it again.

Once the car is up to a good standard I'll definitely be down to a meet, I'll try to put some pics as well.

Si

You should get up the Running Horse in Bracknell next Tuesday mate. It's the Gti meet, but you get other VW's up there. I should be there with a mate. Not sure if he is going to be bringing his C along or coming with me. You may have seen him about maidenhead 2 - dark blue storm with 17" TT rims.

Have you tried looking at the simple things on a 2.0 16v if the car is slightly off song? I'd take off the distributor cap and take a look at the state of the contacts and the rotor arm. Chances are that this has never been changed and that it will be in a bit of a sorry state. When was the last time that the car was serviced? An oil/filter/plugs/air filter change will definately make a difference as will a tank or two of optimax.

Its being serviced right now by the stealers, it was my only option really, apart from not being a lazy shite and doing it myself, the garage is only five minute walk from my work on Slough Trading estate...

The Supra was always treated with optimax so the C won't be any different.

Since I got a good price for the Supra and I obviously didn't spend it on the C I have a bit of spare cash to spend on it. What's the first thing I should treat the C to??, that's assuming the stealers don't pick up something horrible.

Assuming that the car is OK and has nothing wrong with it when you get it back from the dealers, but some Lupo GTI wipers... You'll then have wipers that work! 8)

Treat it to a nice exhaust system and a K&N replacement panel filter.. will make it feel a bit smoother and sound a lot nicer :)

Other than that, i'd just work my way round the car checking for worn or tired bits and replacing em - as have been mentioned, the engine electrical bits are worth swapping if they havent been done in a while (leads, rotor arm, disty cap, etc) as they are quite cheap and can make the car feel a lot smoother.
