car for sale - tow bar.

Recommended Posts

hi all,

Im looking to get a second car for the winter so the corrado can come off the road away from the salt and bad road condition - the winters have taken their toll as rust has appeared in places.

So, ive seen a mk5 polo for sale 1.4 tdi. Its cheapish at a shade under 700, though probably can get it for a little less. Its done 170k, but im told that the diesel engines are solid - mileage doesnt worry me.

My question is, it has a tow bar. No idea what its being towed- Would this put you off buying a car?

I wouldn't be worry abut that, 700 quid for it is nothing. I have MK4 Golf TDI as a daily with 168k miles on clock and engine doesn't miss a bit.

Cheers guys.

Owen - it was more strain on the engine etc that i was worried about. The tow bar can always come off. but i didnt know they usually had a certificate. i'll bear that in mind when i go view it.

Whats the cambelt service miles on them, every 70k?

Cam belt is 70/80k.

Does it have service history?

Have a look when was the clutch last done.

Towing does make the clutch go faster...

See how the clutch feels and have a quick look at the brakes...

But like its been said above... For 700 i would have it like it is

Advert doesnt say anything about service history - i'll be asking when i go view it. Thanks for pointing out the brakes and the esp the clutch.

The gfs sister has just got one and i had a drive and i thought it drove pretty well to be honest. she only pays £30 a year tax! One reason for wanting to get one as a second car as theyre cheap. Shame the one im interested in is pre march 2001 so is £130 a year tax. Still cheaper than the volvo i was given.
