Bazmcc 0 Posted June 27, 2012 I know the simple answer is set them in and have a look but has anyone fitted anything similar? My corrado sort of has a slightly stripped out no dash scenario going on at the minute. Basically with the dash swap and everything I think the grey seats are going to be out of place. I'm changing the carpet to black as well. I got these cheap as chips along with a full set of brand new sliders and rails to fit a MK4 golf/Bora, and I thought I might as well use them as I'm not going to be putting them into my MK2 golf any more. I could make the frames fit a Corrado floorpan easily enough. So it'll save me looking for another set of something else and costing me more money. sexybourbon 0 Posted June 27, 2012 Wat they out of they would look ace in a corrado imo
Bazmcc 0 Posted June 27, 2012 Believe it or not they're just raceland seats. I was suprised by how comfortable they are and how good the stitching and everything is.
VAG-hag 0 Posted June 28, 2012 similar to my seats & I like those :D
Bazmcc 0 Posted July 5, 2012 Just thought I might as well post up the process for making these fit. These are the frames and slider rails made for a MK4 golf/bora. They're decent enough quality. They just need a couple of little adjustments. Here you can see that the main rails are a bit wider. It's probably about 3/4". I'll cut this and reweld it. I'll tack it and test fit before doing a full weld on it. This is the way the front mount is for now. This is the bit i'll need to change but not after measuring and test fitting after width of the rear rails are corrected. Anyone know how these are going to be fitted? Because I don't. I'll probably just use these bits to adapt it to fit the corrado front mount.
VAG-hag 0 Posted July 5, 2012 good work matey!! I can take pic of my konig subframes if they will help you?
bristolbaron 11 Posted July 5, 2012 im not too keen on the seats, but they do have the advantage of a similar shape at the top of the seat to the standard rears so should look pretty good together. However I just spotted you've stripped the interior so i guess thats not even relevant :)
Bazmcc 0 Posted July 6, 2012 good work matey!! I can take pic of my konig subframes if they will help you? Yes please. It's bound to help. im not too keen on the seats, but they do have the advantage of a similar shape at the top of the seat to the standard rears so should look pretty good together. However I just spotted you've stripped the interior so i guess thats not even relevant :) Just slightly stripped. VAG-hag 0 Posted July 6, 2012 will take some pics tonight mate.
Bazmcc 0 Posted July 9, 2012 Looks like these rails aren't exactly going to be straight-forward to fit. I can flip the rails 2 different ways but as the corrado normal seats sit quite low it'll have to be the lowest way up. I had to narrow part of the bar to make it fit in the tunnel side rails. I also shortened it by about 3/4". I'll take the seat to the garage later and see how it sits. I think it might tack weld the plate back on to the tunnel side as i'm happy enough with how far I've narrowed it. My main concern is the front mount being too high and catching the bottom of the seat. I might need to add spacers to lift the seat slightly. Fingers crossed it'll be fine. Bazmcc 0 Posted July 16, 2012 This is the adjustment I made to the inner rail at the tunnel. cut a bit off, sloped one side and tack welded the end back on to test fit. Welder is out of gas but i'll finish it this week. I also am using intake manifold bolts to hold the rails to the seat. Cut down and threaded them up a bit higher just for extra threads to run into. The front of the seat was very low and close to the front mount so I've made some makeshift spacers to hold the seat up. I'll maybe remake these from aluminium or something tidier looking. ---------- Post added at 2:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 2:01 PM ---------- Oh, and I'll mock up the front mount tonight and take some pics. I can do it without making a single cut to the existing frame or front seat mount.
Bazmcc 0 Posted July 23, 2012 Welded the seat rails up and did some test fitting at the weekend. Seating position seems to be pretty good. Just the front mount to make up for the front of the seats. I'll post pics of it shortly.
Bazmcc 0 Posted August 15, 2012 Black carpet in place. Just waiting for the angle iron for the front mount. Should have had it done already but just haven't got round to it.
Bazmcc 0 Posted September 13, 2012 Sorry for the lack of updates on this. Been pretty busy. I threw together the first draft of the front seat brackets. My welder was playing up a bit with the feed but I managed to get it sorted and got a couple of fairly agricultural welds in place. Lets face it, it's structural in this case and they need to be fairly solid. I'll round off the corners and to fix it to the seat rails I'm going to build up some weld, redrill it, and tap it so that the bolts screw in from the back and hold it nice and solid. Bazmcc 0 Posted October 4, 2012 Brackets are rounded off and finished a bit better. I still need to blast them and paint them. I got my spacers made from aluminium to lift the seats slightly. I just need to drill these. (yes there are only 6 in the pic but there are 8 in total).
Bazmcc 0 Posted October 14, 2012 Ok, seats are now fitted. I'm pretty happy with them although i may move them forward a little more just so they have the adjustment range available. I swapped the sprung clip at the front for a nut and bolt just so i can clamp it tight so it doesn't rattle. I painted up all the bits i've worked on. Bazmcc 0 Posted October 15, 2012 The question is now: Back seats or no back seats? A friend had one a while back with a brace across the rear struts and it was really tidy.
G60 CS 0 Posted October 16, 2012 good work matey!! I can take pic of my konig subframes if they will help you? I wouldn't mind a pic of your konig frames I recently picked up a set of Konig seats exactly the same as R32 seats i did have them in the car on modded recaro frames but i think they're slightly too wide and may rub on the centre console :(
Bazmcc 0 Posted October 29, 2012 Anyone got any pics of the following? Rear seat deletes. Flat rear floors or floor builds. Rear cages with no rear seats. Rear cages with harness mounting bars. Rear seat deletes with 3, 4, or 5 point harnesses mounted. Thanks Baz
