Car was bought roughly a year ago from a close friend to be used as my daily. I needed a reliable, economical car for making trips to and from work in Northampton [60 mile round trip]. Prior to my ownership my friend had owned the car for 4-5 years, buying it with a mere 25k on the clock. During this time, the car was meticulously maintained by my brother who is a Saab Trained Auto Technician. So when the car came up for sale it was a no-brainer. Folder full of receipts to back this up.

In the time I’ve had the car it’s been absolutely faultless, never letting me down and requiring the minimal amount of maintenance, serviced as and when it required. I’d happily jump in this car tomorrow and drive it across Europe without even thinking about.

Averaging between 50 & 60 mpg depending on driving conditions, a full tank [roughly £55] will get you between 400-450 miles. [470+ if you drive super eco]. Group 5 so insurance is very reasonable even if you have minimal no claims. I used 2 years no claims and insured if for a year for around £400 pa.

Now the bad points which I must say are very few and far between so I’m having to be picky. Passenger wing and lower front bumper have scrape marks from prior owner’s argument with a wall. Few door dings down both sides, standard shopping car park stuff. Bonnet has started to pick up some stone chips along with lower front bumper, purely from motorway work. All could be rectified for not a lot of money to have a completely mint body and paint. Clutch is quite high but hasn’t worn further since I’ve had it in a year and 15k mileage, importantly it doesn’t slip at all. A recent diagnostic check showed no fault codes however.

In summary this is a fantastic daily driver, super economical, comfy for long distance, cheap to insure, amazing reliable. I have a feeling that I’ll look back and regard this as one of the best car’s I ever owned despite it being something I didn’t see myself buying.
