urgent help required please!!

Recommended Posts

On Saturday i went to my local dealers and bought a set of rear discs and pads for my 95 VR6, ABV........ The guy told me that on the VR6 the rear discs were not part of the hub, i.e the bearing housing was not part of the disc, like on the MK2 Golf GTI. He just gave me these discs, and said to knock the old ones off, leaving the hub and bearings, and just to replace the new discs over.

Stupidly, i didn't check, and when i got home, ready to do the job i saw this was NOT the case. The discs DO house the bearings.

Had to wait till this morning to ring the guy, due to these bloody holidays, and he is insistent that he has supplied me the correct discs for my model of corrado. He says that maybe mine has had an axle stub change??????

Is this true, or is he talking rubbish? Any help would be much appreciated guys, as i'm going in to the dealers in a couple of hours to try and sort this mess out.

Thanks in advance guys.

Sean

oh yeah, the part number for the pads and discs they supplied are:

357615601B - Discs

1Ho698451D - Pads

AFAIK, The rear disks on a VR are identical to those on a G60 except for the extra hole (! ;) ) They hold the bearing exactly the same as the MKII golf...

He's talking out of his ring peice.

ALL mk2's, 3's and corrado's with 2WD and rear discs use the same rear wheel bearings.

Cheers guys. That is exactly what i thought, but he is insistent that the VR6's had uprated brakes than the G60's and valvers, and that is why they don't house the bearings!!! Don't know what is going on, i'm just gonna drive in their, get them to put the car on the ramps and see for themselves

Maybe he is talking about the Golf VR's but i thought they were the same apart from the fronts are 288mm...

The only difference between VR6 and G60 Corrado's is the wheel bolt pattern and the VR has a slightly bigger Master Cylinder

they ALL have 239 rears with the 2 tapered roller bearings. the only differences are the 4stud or 5 stud thing, and the stub axle for ABS cars has a hole in it.
