87 Jetta 16v 0 Posted August 25, 2012 (edited) Hi all, I have two gearboxes that I could do with selling. Firstly I have a golf mk3 gti 16v box. This has a 3.6 final drive in it, and the same gearset as a corrado VR. These make a huge difference to the way a corrado VR drives and makes a VR much more responsive when rebuilt with a VR bellhousing. I would like £80 collected from Reading. Berkshire. Second is a corrado VR gearbox. THis is standard, has covered under 100k, has no whines, leaks, or crunches. Perfect if you are looking to replace your problematic box. I have cleaned this and it looks great. I am looking for £120 collected from Reading. Berkshire. Thanks for looking. daleyboy 0 Posted September 30, 2012 Would you sell the final drive on it own ?
87 Jetta 16v 0 Posted September 30, 2012 Hi there, To be honest, if I was selling the final drive I would be asking for about the same as I would for the whole box, and being in a box, it is nice and protected from the elements :)
daleyboy 0 Posted October 1, 2012 Ok mate no probs, i know the final drive goes for about the £50 mark so we're a little far apart.
87 Jetta 16v 0 Posted October 1, 2012 To get the FD off would mean pressing off the gears from one of the shafts, and obviously doing the opposite on your VR box. It is much more simple to replace all of the internals with those from the mk3 16v box, the ratios are nigh on identical, and this way you won't need to replace some associated bearings either as this box was silent in use. It also means you wouldn't have to drill out the diff rivets either, unless you are looking to fit an LSD.
daleyboy 0 Posted October 1, 2012 Good info there buddy, to be honest it would be something i bought and fitted in a year or two when i would replace the bearings on my gearbox, lots of other things to do first like fit the cams i bought a month ago and the schrick which has been under my bed for two years.........you get the picture
87 Jetta 16v 0 Posted October 2, 2012 No problems. All the better to keep it "in the case" then :) I know the feeling with the "lots to do" :( I am open to offers on the whole box should you be interested.
