Any surveyors on here? Valuation question.

I have a question about a mid works valuation on our extension.

 

To release funds to complete our extension we need to have a mid works valuation performed. We have a couple of options of when this is done and I am interested to know if/how this would affect the valuation.

The original valuation on the house was done before anything was done and the house was untouched.

Since then planning permission has been granted, the whole extension has been built, the garden has been ripped out and the place is obviously a building site. As yet the original house has not been broken through into so is still liveable and functional, but soon they will be breaking through. My question is valuation wise will it make any difference if the house is functional and the extension is in place, or the knock through is done and the house is laid out right but not functional... Basically when is the best time to get a valuation.
