Heater controls problem!

Recommended Posts

Hi all, i am having a problem with my heater control.

when turning the left knob towards the windscreen de-mister it stops half way between the the de-mister and floor vent.

i cant turn it any more because there is too much tension.

any suggestions?

thanks

You will more then likely have to remove the heater controls and reset the cogs in the correct position. The cogs have probably skipped a few teeth and are not allowing you to turn the knob( :) ) any further. It can be a little fiddly to get them where they need to be, but be patient and you will get there! :)

dumptyboy, i have removed the controls and once i have disconnected the cables it operates fine. but i have noticed that the cable that operates the de-mister has alot of tension and the wire does not move in and out. its like something is stuck or holding it back. this has caused the cogs to wear the bottom leaver

If you remove the lower dash you will be able to follow the cable and see it connects to a flap. Its possible the foam backing has come away from the flap and is causing it to stick. :)

well i striped the lower dash and found where the cables connect onto the lever which controls the flaps inside the heater box. the one that controls the de-mister is very stiff. and i dont see how i can sort this because its as something inside is holding back the flaps. Stuck!!! any ideas anyone. i really hope i dont have to replace the whole heater box, dont want to take the dash out :(
