16v hubs onto vr6

i recently purchased new alloys for my vr6 corrado, on realising that they wont clear the brake calipers at the front, i tried the wheels on my 16v corrado and they fit with no issues, is it possible to fit 16v hubs onto a vr6? i understand that that drive shaft wont fit into the 16v hubs as the vr6 shafts are thicker, am i able to change the outer cv joints around?

A trick to get 280mm brakes on MK2 Golfs with smaller alloys was to use the 256mm calipers with 280mm discs and carriers... not sure if that's possible on the Corrado? Should be??
