heated screen switch?

Recommended Posts

Hi i know this subject has been dicussed before but i cant seem to find the answer to my problem lol.

My heated rear screen dosnt work, but the switch dosent light up when pressed either. I have mangaged to pop the front of the switch off (i dont think this is the correct way to accsess it) and the little green led is on when the ignition is on but the other led dose nothing. I have changed the fuse and thats not it.

Can anybody tell me the correct way to remove the switch so I can see the wires and do u have to remove the fog and heated seats switch's too as a panel?

Im just guessing that it is the switch that is faulty seeing that the light dosnt work?

cheers tom

Look on the back mate. Get a flat head screwdriver and you can prize the back panel off. Make sure when you fully remove the inside that the switch is facing upwards (front of switches facing up) as there are bits inside which will fall out.

Edit - oh and to get the actual switches out of the dash it probably easier and safer (as to not damage anything), to remove the instrument bincacle and push the switch out from the back. Careful not to lose the metal clips that hold the lights into the dash. Once out, do the above.

It's most likely just going to be a case of getting a new / good used switch.. they do fail unfortunately as they're getting old and brittle and are mostly plastic inside.
