Slam Panel bonnet pins plastic guides

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm just about to get a new slam panel sprayed up thats another colour to what I want it to be!

I've stripped all the plastic bits etc... off it, with the exception of the 2 plastic "guides" that the bonnet pins locate into that lock it into position....

my question...... what is the best way to go with this? get the bodyshop to mask them up, or is it easy to drill them out and rivet back into place after, im worried that they will crack and crumble away upon trying to fit them!

Can you get these new still from anywhere or does anyone have a couple in good condition I.E no cracking?

I'm going to do a trial on the panel currently on the car and see how I get on, but some opinions would be good :)

Cheers

Pete

I broke one when I pulled the first rivet up (I think it might have already been cracked) but was subsequently very careful and didn't split the last 3. Shouldn't be a problem bud.

Sorry the part number is lost in the mountain of receipts I have. Its all numbers cant make sense which is which. I would take a picture of it and just show it to your VW parts department.

Thanks a lot! Do you know if this is just the plastic bit or if it includes the metal pin retainer?

from memory the rivet pins you have to buy separately.

According to Vagcat the Rivets are N 90576301 and sold separately.
