Trilidon 0 Posted May 1, 2004 Car isn't starting right...when I turn the key it doesn't do anything makes no noise for a while, then you can hear it trying to start and after a bit it will kick in.... I have no idea what it is, I thought it was the battery, previous owner said the battery would be dead if you left it there for a week or so without starting the car up. Supercharged 2 Posted May 1, 2004 Most likely dudgy ignition switch, could also be starter motor sticking but try the cheapest one first!
vr6storm 0 Posted May 1, 2004 worth checking fuses and relays in case of corroded terminals and/or loose connections too
Henny 0 Posted May 1, 2004 check the earth strap... it is the clamp on the -VE of the battery, then runs down to the chassis behind the battery and then onto the gearbox.... they have a nasty habbit of oxidising (they go green to show this!) and becoming resistive to electricity which screws up the starting and general running of your engine.... if it's green at any point, bin it and fork out the £20 for a new one... :)
Trilidon 0 Posted May 3, 2004 Ill check the earth strap as soon as the rain clears up, hope I can find it =P
