Captaincook 0 Posted May 5, 2004 Im changing my springs this weekend, what I would like to know before hand is how easy/hard is it to access the top nut on the rear shocks. Also im only planning on changing the springs is there any thng else that I need to be aware of before I start. Cheers its on a 95 VR6
jedi-knight83 0 Posted May 5, 2004 you need to take the whole shock off. its easy though.... just remove the plastic interior panels around the shock (4 nuts) then 2 nuts on each shock. then 1 bolt on the bottom of the shock attaching to the car and bang....the shock / spring unit pops off... no need to use spring compressors for the rear as they are only under light compression. just get a helper to hold down while you undo the 3rd nut and bobs your uncle

kvwloon 0 Posted May 5, 2004 Get some new bumpstops from GSF too! ....and a couple of new top spring plates, about £12 each and very prone to corrosion and disintegration! I'd also recommend new bottom strut bolts and nuts, and a couple of new circlips that fit around a groove in the shock strut which the top spring mount plates locate in, probably corroded to bits!. It's a pretty easy job and quite satisfying, but worth changing the parts mentioned above while your'e there, or at least having them to hand, as theyr'e bound to be shagged!
