G60 Engine change

Recommended Posts

I am currently in the early stages of an engine swap on my C. It should be simple enough (I hope). But as I am sure you are all aware, finding any literature on this is pretty tricky. So if anyone knows of any good reference points or wishes to share their wisdom and experience with me (to save me learning things the hard way) Then it would be very gratefully recieved.

PS It is just a straight forward swap a PG for another PG.

Thanks !!

unbolt and unplug everything that's topping the engine from coming out, then take it out.

generaly, that's.

bumper

front panel

rad

heater hoses

fuel lines

wiring

driveshafts

engine mounts

downpipe.

err, and that's about it really!

Cheers Phatvr6, that was pretty much the plan I had myself

The bonnet and front is off, the cooling systems out, the intercooler and pipework is out (and hopefully not going back in!) gearbox is dissconected, the drive shafts are half out and my back is probably nearly out too !!

What fun I am having ?????? :?: :!:

Oh well I should probably get back to it......................... :|

yup, that's how I did it too... undo everything in sight with it supported on a couple of trolley jacks, then lift it off the rear mounts and pull to see if you've missed anything... If you haven't it should just pull straight out the front of the car 8)

Excelent...... Lets hope it is as simple for me as it is for everyone else :)

Heres what it looked like after a few hours yesterday, its getting barer by the minute, thank god.

Although its a nasty mess and even once the engines out, theres a hell of a lot of work left.......

Note to self, having no money is no excuse to leave your pride and joy rotting in your garden for 2 years.....
