Rolyg60 0 Posted May 12, 2004 Hi all wonder if you can help My 91 g60 stinks of fuel in the cabin when started on a cold day and it continues to smell until it warms up. The engine dose`nt seem affected by this and starts first time and runs sweet as a nut. How do i reduce the amount of fuel the engine is chucking in on a cold start as it is definetly overfuelling. Thanks. Oh is it best to replace the Cat with a cat replacement pipe? as it`s rattling like a pig And finally What would a 4-1 downpipe be like would it be worth the effort as mine is quite badly cracked and i was wondering whether to replace it with a 4-1 pipe. Thanks again.
GazzaG60 0 Posted May 12, 2004 Fuel smelss are usually related to leaks. check fuel line near throttle body that goes from end of rail to pressure switch end near pressure reg Fuel filter carbon can connections. A clogged cat could cause this as a knock-on effect to the O2 probe passing away. whats the AF gauge say? if you aint got one put a multimeter on it and check for fluctuating voltage. does it run badly, does it chug? try unplugging the probe at the harness behind the 1st runner of the intake on the engine mount below the clutch slave. how does it run then? check the wiring at the harness for brittle/broken wires. check the heat wires to the probe as a non heating probe will take a long time to warm up and it wont work properly till its warm. change the blue TPS on the water pipe from the head to top of radiatior. i run a cat replacement pipe. get rid of any bad exhaust bits as they aint doing it any good. kongo127 0 Posted May 12, 2004 Cat rattling like a pig? Oh dear... That´s a DEAD cat! Probably because of a faulty lambda probe... Don´t you ever replace the cat without checking up the lambda probe! Or else you´ll kill the new one too! I had that problem too! I replaced the dead cat with a pipe and bought a new lambda probe. It´s just fine! 8)
