SNS chip owners, have you advanced the timing much?

Recommended Posts

I fitted my SNS chip and 3.5 bar FPR today. I adjusted the CO pot to 500 ohms as instructed but have left the timing standard for now.

Has anyone advanced their timing since fitting the chip and if so, did it give much more power?

The car feels a lot smoother already and is much nicer to drive. I have also lost my whistle at gearchange, mabye this was the ISV dumping excess boost as the SNS chip does away with that.

Also I have lost the harsh rev limit, and that can only be a good thing.

I can't wait untill I get my big intercooler fitted in a fortnight, it should really fly then.

Cheers guys.

Rob.

I only noticed a whistle at gear change AFTER fitting sns chip

Happens when revs have been upto 4-6k...I like it :)

I havent adjusted timing yet either..intended to, but I am more than happy with the power its chucking out right now so have just left it. Will maybe wait till the summer is here for warmer weather. Always use optimax to, so hopefully should be able to advance should I feel the need.

It's nice not having the lag anymore isn't it :)

Advancing the ignition timing is a matter of fine tuning for the individual needs of your motor. Depending on where it is now, you may find that you can obtain more aggression by advancing to the optimum (before pinking).
