CoxyLaad 0 Posted May 12, 2004 Hi all, I need to shortedn my front driveshafts to get them to fit on my corrado. I have been told that if I am going to have anything over 200bhp then friction welding is not suitable ie dodgey and I should get some custom shafts made up. has anyone done this shaft shortening exercise before? having custom shafts made up is quite costly and I would rather get them shortened, but if there is a chance they will give way then I think I will have to bite the bullet. Any thoughts?
scruffydubbers 0 Posted May 13, 2004 sounds complicated, i know when putting VR into polos the drive shafts need shortening, and dubsport have done a few of these conversions you could try ringing them. can you not use VR driveshafts?

CoxyLaad 0 Posted May 14, 2004 were they custom on offs, or did they shorten your existing ones? How did they do it? and what were the costs?
Bournemouth James 0 Posted May 14, 2004 Sorry, i couldnt tell you how much it costs, or how they done it, it was included in the price of the 20vt conversion and they were already on my car when i got it, I do know they are custom hybrid ones, they didnt shorten the existing ones, Check out there webpage, go to conversions, mine is the featured corrado, its got the full spec
CoxyLaad 0 Posted May 14, 2004 Thats a nice corrado mate. I had a set of custom shafts made up for my 1.8T mk2, but they were a lot of money and I was looking to cut some costs with other methods.....suppose I shouldnt be cutting costs with driveshafts, especially when I am going to be have somewhere in the region of 280bhp - 320bhp going through them. I have 4 shafts to do though
