rear strut probs!!!

Recommended Posts

Just stripped down the rear struts on my VR to change the bilstein springs for H&R and found the idiot who worked on the car before me hasn't assembled it properly! (the spacer and one of the mounts were inside the spring on one side but not the other :?

Anyway, I ordered the parts that were missing and started to put it all back properly this morn.

What I was wondering is are all rear struts assembled the same on all Corrados or is the VR6 different? Bentley only shows one drawing but the protective caps and supports I've ordered don't match up, Also there's another washer underneath the lower spring cap on mine that doesn't appear in the Bentley drawing.....

If anyone has any advice or other drawings it'd be a great help.

Thanks.

Might be worth asking your local friendly stealers for a print out of the drawings on ETKA for the rear struts? Usually quite a useful guide to what bits go where and in what order etc....

All Corrados share the same rear strut set up, just different damper/spring rates between the models. In fact it's the same rear strut set up as a Mk2 Golf. Might be worth taking a look at a Haynes manual for a Mk2 Golf as that will have a good exploded diagram.

No probs. Glad I could be of some use on a technical problem for once ;)
