ZackM8 0 Posted May 17, 2004 Alright my C is having a bit of a time holding it's charge, I know the battery is good, and I know the starter and alternator are fine, I was wondering If the was some kind of list for common corrado battery draws or not, or suggested things to try. Thanks again.
Henny 0 Posted May 17, 2004 Boot light... take the bulb out and see if it holds it charge any better... Earthstrap from the battery - they go green and crappy and won't allow the battery to charge properly off the alternator, as well as causing all sorts of "interesting" other electrical gremlins to come out of the woodwork... :| (it's the clamp on the -ve of the battery which then runs down to the chassis just behind the battery and on to end attached to the gearbox at the front top bolt) Alarms are also common battery killers, along with any ICE you have installed... Also check that the fan run on is only running for around 7 minutes or so.... any longer and you may have a problem there which is flattening your battery... (uncommon though)
ZackM8 0 Posted May 18, 2004 what exactly do you mean by the boot light?
ZackM8 0 Posted May 18, 2004 Hmm the boot light must be the light by your feet, and I don;t have an alarm system on my car, I don't think they came on any 1990 G60's, think only VR's, not sure. Although the person before me put a cd player in, I really don't think that thats it. It does stay on when the key is off, maybe i should try rewiring it to the ignition? I jsut replaced my battery erminals and starter, no change on that, and the altenator is only a year old so I doubt its that, hmmm my poor C =( :(
ZackM8 0 Posted May 18, 2004 Sorry to post so many times but I jsut went out and checked to "boot" lights which don't exist on my car, no lights turn on when i get in the car! So tomorrow I'm gunna tear all the damn wiring and clean it off, sandpaper here i come.
Henny 0 Posted May 18, 2004 Sorry, didn't notice that you were American... Boot light = Trunk light...   There's a light inside the trunk which is on when the tailgate is open... The switch is in the lock mechanism on the gate itself, and they are known to become faulty and keep the light on which will easily flatten a battery in a couple of days... :|
ZackM8 0 Posted May 18, 2004 well the boot light was fine, and I couldn't seem to figure out what was wrong with it so I just got back from bringing it to a local electrical guy to see what he finds out I'll keep ya posted
