Recommended Posts

Good evening my son is looking to purchase a H reg G60, he has a lot of Previous VWs and a 1.4 Lupo that we both converted to a 1.6 TSI turbo last year. I am after a bit of back ground to the Main issues to look for ie Main rust areas and driving issues. Look forward to your replies.

Ps the site is great by the way and there's a lot of info to look at

Hi and welcome.

All corrados' suffer from rust in the following areas.

Sill area especially the returns to front and rear wheel arches.

Rear drivers' wheel arch look up under fuel flap area where locking rod comes from inside car.

And also check the mounting area for the fuel tank neck, these tend to be a dirt trap that ultimately leads to rust.

Front valance behind bumper. These tend to rust. Check also for water leaks from front windscreen.

Check both front suspension turrets should have a VW stamped on them and also check the rear tyre well.

Original vw sticker always a good sign.

Driving issues with a g60 they do tend to run a bit hot, check cooling fan kicks in.

Check for history on super charger overhaul. And check for service history. Also check the bottom crank pulley bolt. This is well documented as there is a lot of strain on this pulley.

There is also a boost check facility built into the MFA system. You need to follow a procedure to enable it.

Hope this helps.

Steve
