matty golf 0 Posted May 6, 2014 mk 2 gti engineering re 2000 Ive had this car for approx 4 years its had 3 previous owners the guy I got it off bought it in 1993. The car was converted in December 1997 with 93 k on the clocks I have all recipts, brochures and associated paper work. The car now has 163 k on it so engine has done 70 k in 17 years. The re2000 conversion replaces the 1800 lump with a Steel crankshaft Cylinder block bored out to 82.5 bore Heavy duty crankshaft bearings Alloy pistons Gassflowed cylinder head Reprofiled inlet and exhaust throats Gassflowed inlet and exhaust manifolds Uprated valve springs Modified injection system In 97 this conversion cost 3 k and I have the invoice for this. I have every mot from new and a big folder full of receipts for all the work its had done since. All the underside of the car is polybushed and goodridge braided brake lines. I have replaced the downpipe for a jetex 4 to 1 stainless manifold which is heat wrapped and matedcto a jetex 2.5 inch system with twin tail pipes. It has koni top adjustable shocks with eibach springs and 15 inch bbs ra's with toyo proxy tyres all round Inside there is electric front windows and vdo gauges, there are no rips or tears in the seats and the parcel shelf has no big speakers in it. Body wise there are a couple of dints and surface rust but its a 24 year old car, I will be very sad to see this car go as ive known it for 14 years when it was with its previous owner. I just have a corrado project on the go and it just sits on the drive most of the time as I have a works van. Its a very quick little car and a little stealthy to.
