Corrado 8V

Recommended Posts

There is one come up for sale locally that hasn't moved for a number of years so no Tax/MOT - Hoping to view it tomorrow night as a summer project.

Apart from the usual things and especially anything rubber, is there anything specific to the 8V that I should be looking at?

Ian.

rotting headgaskets, not a biggy if you're handy with spanners as the gaskets and bolts are cheap, but a fair sized job nonetheless, front and side water flanges leak with age and then there's the usual corroded oil cooler if the coolant hasn't been changed regularly, some of the engine wiring isn't that well protected from heat and the elements and can get a bit manky including head earth strap.

Old 8v heads do tend to burn oil from old valve stem seals, not always due to the actual guides being worn though, if the headgasket needs changing check the guides and definitely replace the stem seals
