Scorpion alarm/immobiliser issue, please help as i'm stuck at work...

Recommended Posts

...and no one wants to be stuck at work do they? haha. I'm on a night shift so I have until 6am tomorrow morning to try to sort this. The biggest problem I have is that all my paperwork including anything to do with the alarm is at home... as is the little key for the alarm speaker thing!

I have a K reg corrado VR6 with what I believe to be a dealer fitted scorpion alarm/immobiliser.

Driving to work this eve I was hit by all the torrential rain which was very very heavy, at work I parked up as normal, left the car unlocked as I park it right next to my office window and it's safe here. After about ten mins the alarm starts sounding, I go to the car and it's locked itself? I try to unlock it using the fob but this is now not working? The alarm stops and starts a few times, I decided (I don't know if this was stupid or not?) to unlock the door with the key (this set the alarm off again), pop the bonnet and disconnect the alarm speaker. Upon opening the bonnet I see what I think is the issue: the speaker has somehow come off the bracket (nut and bolt no where to be seen) so it's now hanging from it's wires, this has caused the rubber cowling to slip back and expose the plugs/sockets/wiring and furthermore it was dripping with rain water from the heavy rain. So I disconnected the speaker and have brought it inside to dry out....

...but then I thought DOH (face palm) the immobiliser!

I tried the following:

Starting car with speaker disconnected - wont start

starting car with speaker (still wet) connected - wont start

so now I am stuck, the alarm speaker is currently disconnected and drying in the vain hope it will all work again once it's dried out (will it?). The key fob does nothing at all when I press it (the red light on it still comes on though) and the car is immobilised.....

....any thoughts? I'm pretty limited for tools at work but if I can get it home I have plenty there although me and wires don't generally mix!

Any help ASAP will be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!

The alarm speaker has:

998 VAG 138

mpt 1340

w.t license

exempt

printed on it if that means anything to anyone?

It looks like it's far too late to offer any help here (not that I have any suggestions) but I sincerely hope you got it sorted?

I don't even use my scorpion alarm, I only use the key to lock/unlock the car. I imagine when they go wrong they can be a right pain.

Anyway I hope you're reading this from home and not from work!

well I made it home.... BUT not in my C :(

However I'm back at work now, with tools, various keys & fobs & some knowledge having spoken to an alarm guy today... so fingers crossed I can get it fired up tonight... at least the speaker should be properly dried out by now!

Ok, I managed to reset the immob but I've now got no central locking (not even if I use the key) theoretically I can live with this but the issue is the fuel flap works off the central locking so currently I cannot put fuel in it! Any ideas?

This is in my manual

Hope it's readable. Same thing happened in an old Audi A4 I had. I just lived with it though. Long term it's not great but at least you got her going!

Thanks! It annoys me they didn't clean the floor. I would guess by it's history, my cars had a few enthusiasts!

How's your alarm?
