Spoiler

Recommended Posts

Ok just got my corrado and the only thing in it thats not working is the spoiler(even the sunroof works!).

I guess this is a common problem and I bet ppl have answered this loads of times.

What is the system that runs it? as far as I can tell it has a relay above the fuse box and a switch then I don't know what happens untill it gets to the back where the motor is. The guy how had it before me said it worked intermitantly but then when he removed the stereo it stopped working all together. so Now I am stuck, I put a stereo back in it and it worked once from the switch and has'nt worked since.

Has anyone got a wiring diagram or know of what might be wrong? I have checked the fuse already and thats fine.

thanks in advance.

There's plenty of reading on the forums if you do a quick search.

Here's a quote from Henny in another thread....

.............you should check behind your stereo for a blue and white wire which should not be connected to anything...

It's in the car to alter the volume of the original stereo so that it gets louder the faster you get, but most people who fit stereos don't know that, so they connect it to the aux power feed which stops the spoiler getting the correct signals to raise and lower automatically...

If it's not that, it could be that your relay/control unit is faulty... It lives under the dash, just by the manual switch....

take the stereo out, and cut the blue/white wire that's in the wires behind the stereo... This is the speed sensor wire and the odds are that some muppet has wired it onto the power out terminal on the back of the stereo...

If that doesn't work, try a search for spoiler and you'll get LOTS of different answers about it 'cos it's not an uncommon fault... ;)

*edit* Or, Alternatively, you could wait for someone to beat me to it and quote me from another thread! ;) 8)

Actually I was looking behind my fuse box and saw a blue and white connector just hanging loose not connected to anything so should that be connected to anything? there are also a couple of black connectors disconnected and one red one, my guess is either these have fallen out or they are just there for optional items which I don't have or for another engined model. I'll check the stereo wire but I am sure it was just loose as well.and I'll check the threads for some answers.

does it work with the swich? or just not work all together? i know there is a sensor (at least on the 90' ) that is on the back of the guage cluster. my friend had replaced the sensor and his spoiler works automatically now. he also gets a bunch of accurate MFA readings now. another thing would be to check if your MFA readings are all correct. if they are not, it very well could be that sensor. they are only like $30 from the stealer.
