What work do you need doing? Electrics in general, alarm, engine wiring? MAybe we can help without the need of a 'professional'

Basically, I've intermittent starting problems and if I'm lucky enough that the car does start it only runs for 5 mins or so before cutting out. When the car won't start the fuel pump is working, but there's no spark. I've replaced the ignition coil and the ignition switch and everything now seems to point at a dodgy immobiliser, but as I'm not 100% sure. I'm thinking an auto electrician should be able to check the immobiliser and for an electrical fault in general??? Would you agree??? If not any ideas???

Also, when checking the immobiliser out I found a live wire floating about in my engine bay...turned out to be the wire that goes to the bonnet pin, have no idea how it became unattached.

what alarm/imob is it :?:

it could be that the ignition signal to the immobiliser is disconnected and the immobiliser is re-arming because it thinks the ignition is off

i have seen this happen once with an old microscan

I'd go with ignition switch failure on this one... :|

See HERE for replacement info.... 8)

If it starts and that a huge if...it seems to run for a few minutes before it cuts out. It's a 92 G60 if that makes any odds???

Definately petrol being pumped, I've turned it over with the fuel sender pipe disconnected and it p's petrol, just not getting a spark from the main lead from the coil to the dizzy cap.

Hall sender, now you have said G60.

You can get another from any digifant engined golf/jetta/passat they are all the same.

It could still be the ECU relay though. Find it, take the lid off and check the soldered joints inside. I have seen a few that have gone dry, giving intermittent running, flatspots etc.

Last time I actually drove it, just prior to cutting out it all of the relays started clicking like mad...reckon the cars possessed???

I've changed the hall sender, to be fair the only thing I haven't changed is the driver

Any ideas???

hmmmm relays going mad.... where the dials dipping :?: might have a dodgy earth somewhere check the main earth straps from the battery to chassis chassis to engine etc.

take each one off and give the contact surfaces a good rubbing down till they are shiney

Could well be a dodgy earth cable onto the battery... that'd cause the relays to go mental as they'd loose a decent earth and would not know what the hell to do...

check the strap as it goes from the clamp, down the back of the battery onto the chassis and then continues onto the gearbox top front bolt.
