History

I bought this G60 in 2006, after noticing the following car. Corrado and Porsche are the only cars that interest me. I'd previously owned a modified G60 in 1995 and regret to this day ever selling that car.

Due to me being far to precious about this car, for many years 65 mile work commute across A and B roads, then family life, meant the G60 has pretty much sat in my garage until the last year. Epic fail as my sons would say!!!!

A change of employer mean I now cycle to work and the car is only used to taxi my kids around. Total waste of the car and I'm scared someone else will ding it, scratch it, whatever. I need it replaced with a I don't care box. Alas I can't run my wifes car and 2 for me :(

The BAD?

Cam belt shredded some teeth!!!

Stood too long and got her running without changing the belt first :(

The G60 is NOT an interference fit engine, so no valves against pistons as would happen to a 16v.

What it did mean is I had to statically time the engine. I'm a software engineer not a mechanic so it took me ages. Researching and the Bentley got me there in the end. Along the way I also replaced the alternator, coil, distributor and its cap, and of course a new cam belt.

She's been running like this for the past year covering just over 500 miles. Goes okay but drinks fuel in town traffic, taking my kids to football training and matches :( Needs a proper dynamic tune.

The cam seal now leaks oil :(
