Recaro tartan cloth, but from what VAG?

A mate of mine has seen the following Recaro tartan design and is wanting to know what car it comes from.

 

Seemingly it's from a VAG car but might not be.

 

Any help appreciated.

The interior is in a French mk2 golf, although I think its custom.
