Dan1987 10 Posted June 7, 2015 Ok guys so not had my Corrado long it just discovered my gear linkage is fouling on my 421 manifold my engine is a16v with a 9a bottom end can someone please tell me how to sort this before my cables are past it Thanks
paddy26 3 Posted June 7, 2015 I'd also be worries about the steering uj boot melting. And also the steering rack getting damaged, including boiling the power steering fluid. Do you have the original downpipe? Or could you wrap or ceramic coat the manifold?
Dan1987 10 Posted June 7, 2015 Hi mate no I bought it as is , best guess is late manifold for rod shifters ?? Or can I just get a better 4 branch
vw rule 19 Posted June 7, 2015 (edited) I think you're going to have to change the exhaust manifold, as it's completely made / routed wrong, hence it melting your gear selector cables. You could try wrapping it in the heat resistant wrap, but to be honest I wouldn't waste my time as the exhaust manifold is just too close to the cables in question. Your best bet is to get hold of a standard manifold & down pipe set up, or to get the correct shaped and routed 4 branch sports manifold made if that's what you want. I wouldn't drive it very far in the state it's in now due to fire risk. Hope this helps and hope you get it sorted very soon. Dan1987 10 Posted June 7, 2015 Car ain't moving car till this is sorted mate don't know how someone got this so wrong with rest been like it is I'll order a proper 4 branch for it hopefully will sort this prob out That's rest of my bay don't get why just this is wrong
vw rule 19 Posted June 7, 2015 Don't know maybe they were given it, or bought it very cheap and just thought, hey that's close enough to how it should be I'll just bolt it up. Just seems so strange how they've left it as it is, if it was done by a exhaust specialist then that's scary. Your engine bay in your photo looks mint, amazing. MZpog 10 Posted June 8, 2015 When looking at 4 branch for mine, I noticed some (most) suggested not for right-hand drive with power steering. Maybe the previous owner wasn't warned of this.

Dan1987 10 Posted June 13, 2015 Doing my research it would appear I have a LHD exhaust manifold on her :-(
