Bfstrachan 10 Posted January 21, 2016 Just about to replace my alternator and noticed the pulley on my new one is slightly smaller than my old one. I am thinking I can simply adjust and take up the bit of extra slack? Am I right in thinking this or should I not even try? Bfstrachan 10 Posted January 21, 2016 ended up transplanting the old pulley onto the new alternator. I noticed the new one was about 5mm longer in the shaft so would not have lined up straight.
