Oil Temp Sender Part No. for VDO Gauge (60 to 170 Degrees)

Recommended Posts

Been annoying me for awhile now since fitted a set of VDO's in the cubbyhole. The oil temp sender is not the correct one for the gauge.

The gauge reads oil temp from 60 to 170 degrees. The sender however is rated '120 deg (130 deg max)'. Initially I was happy just to get all the gauges working, but now want to get this sorted as don't like the gauge reading 130 degrees (even though I know it's only 100 degrees in reality).

Anyone got a part number for an oil temp sender that reads from 60 degrees to 170 degrees please? It's the wider thread sender I need (i.e will fit the top of the oil filter mounting)

Come on guys, somebody must know. Thought I'd sorted it by fitting Sender 049 919 563B (0 to 180 deg.), but now instead of showing 130 deg when actually at 100, the gauge says just over 60 deg. There must be a sender to pair up with the 60 to 170 deg VDO oil temp gauge, with 10M x 1,5 fitting?

Erm....bump! :D Henny?, anybody, somebody! :D Showing an oil temp of 65 deg now on a 16v is a little optimistic even for me! Need the part number of the correct sender with 10M x 1.5M thread for the VDO oil temp gauge part no. 855 919 541. Probably originally fitted to an Audi coupe.

http://www.egauges.com list loads of senders, but none for a 170 degree gauge... :?

However.... ;)

My VDO gauges for my MKI golf, (which are out of an Audi 80 sport) just happen to have a 60-170 oil temp gauge and sender with some numbers on it.... 8)

x49 919 563B I can't read the first number 'cos it's scratched... :?

...and then realised that must be the new sender I have fitted a few days ago. (049 919 563B). The plot thickens, think I'm gonna check the wiring as that seems to be the right sender for the guage now. Thanks anyway for the info, given me a new direction to explore.
