I have just noticed that we can get both sides again. Classic parts are showing new old stock of the left and have done a new production of the right :-)

 

I will put both into stock at heritage

I'm gobsmacked that VW have actually done a new production run of such parts. I'm starting to believe that maybe they are reasonably serious about helping keep our old cars on the road!
