jaybo 10 Posted October 20, 2016 Since buyng my car the fuel gauge has never worked which wasnt a problem at the time but i've almost finished building it. Oddly the water temp gauge only sits about a fifth/quarter ratehr that the middle where it is supposed to sit. Do I have two problems? A shot fuel sender and black temp plug, or is it the voltage reg? If the latter then I would of though there woudl be more problems but everythgin else on the clocks work absolutely fine! Any thoughts?
Philly-R6 0 Posted October 20, 2016 You need to determine if your problem is with the gauge or the sender (or wiring in between?!)? Refer to Bentley Publishers' Gauge Testing page for some background: http://www.bentleypublishers.com/tech/vw/bentley.vw1301.testing.htm Try substituting various values for the fuel sender (and coolant sender) and see if the gauge follows as you expect (using values from the conversion table): Full - 35 Ohms 1/4 tank - 116 Ohms Empty - 288 Ohms
