KooradoG60 0 Posted July 12, 2004 Well to start things off, my car idles very strangely. After i hit the gas, when i put it back into nuetral the idle drops to extremely low rpms to the point of almost cutting off the engine and even sometimes it does kill the engine. This also happens when i rev the car in nuetral. Another problem is when i am driving and i hit the gas hard to boost it gets no power, but if i slowly push on the gas it will boost up a little. Last problem ive been having is a small amount of smoke coming from the the engine near the wipers in the middle and it makes a HISSSING sound. if anyone can help me out id greatly appriciate it. vr6storm 0 Posted July 12, 2004 no G60 expert.....but IIRC there is a bit of tubing that has to be 1m long......if its not or if its damaged then it causes all sorts of running probs........also it could be a dodgy coolant sensor........but again IIRC this is more noticable trying to start etc i'm sure henny,g-man,stevemac et al will be able to point you in the right direction
Henny 0 Posted July 12, 2004 'Ello? You called? ;) Yup, your vacuum pipe to the ECU has either come off or has a hole in it... this pipe tells the ECU what the engine's upto so it can adjust fuelling and the ISV... :| It runs from the top nipple on the back of the throttle body to the nipple on the ECU and needs to be exactly 100cm long... 8) Mine had this exact problem when I bought it... KooradoG60 0 Posted July 13, 2004 thx guys, i appriciate it alot! im gonna check it out tommorrow but i think your right because i tryed to run it today and i got a bunch of black smoke coming out the back so i figured its running to rich in fuel. h100vw 0 Posted July 13, 2004 The bad tickover might be related to a duff closed throttle switch. Or incorrect base idle setting. Admittedly the poor acceleration sounds much more like the ECU pipe. Did it start all of a sudden or slowly get worse, have you had any work done in that area that may have caused this? Gavin
KooradoG60 0 Posted July 13, 2004 ya i had a shitty car place perform a tuneup on my car, and it seemed to be downhill from there..
KooradoG60 0 Posted July 13, 2004 Henry- I just took a look at it and i think you 100% correct on the problem. I have a Question about it though -> Is the vacuum tube your talking about a thin black cloth covered tube? if it is, it is running from my throttle body to my ecu. i found that it is not connected to anything near the ecu , it must have got disconnected somehow but i cant figure out where it plugs into the ecu. do you have a picture of where it goes in or can you explain it? h100vw 0 Posted July 13, 2004 There is a nipple on the end where the big plug is. Most likely that you would only see it using a mirror. Gavin
