Any carbon trim experts

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I'm hoping one of you with your wealth of experience and knowledge may be able to solve an issue I have.

So some of you may have seen I recently bought a Audi rs4 b7, it came with a beautiful set of seats which have been 're upholstered and trimmed in carbon. I know nothing about the seats and how they were made but I presume the rear covers are just carbon effect and not real carbon fibre.

Anyway to the problem my drivers side seat appears to have faded and gone dull whereas my passengers side is still bright. I am hoping one of you may know what's causing this and how I could bring back the shine?

My thoughts are that the heater element in the seat is causing the fading but I don't know how to bring back the shine... I have tried a polish but achieved nothing just slid around on the glossy exterior a lot haha.

I've attached some photos but unfortunately it's difficult to capture in the light. 396e21df1d771e667422489b8224c1c8.jpgb1042624191a6ec6073fbe6335df715b.jpgcd6e4dd477f43d5a97de584ecd968a86.jpg

It looks like the laquer is going milky ! If it is laquer that is

Usually caused by moisture , sweat maybe ?? Haha

If they are laquered you should be able to cut it with a machine polisher and polish it back up and maybe seal with a wax

I could be wrong though but if it is moisture and that doesent work im not sure what to suggest
