bighairymuppet 0 Posted August 4, 2004 water in exhaust vapour... too late or any repair help? could be gasket who knows? no water in oil, no oil in water runs perfectly fine apart from that??? Any ideas / repairs / ways of diagnosis without rebuilding head? only thing ive noticed is that sometimes has issue starting needs little pump of gas??? if its not from actual engine itself do you think water could be sitting in exhaust from somewhere?? ideas? theories? anything anyone? Jim 2 Posted August 4, 2004 Have you tried taking it for a bit of a drive and then pulling up and letting it idle for a few minutes and seeing if the little puddle appears?
bighairymuppet 0 Posted August 4, 2004 ahem.... emm will do but back brakes are currently a no no so not driving it for another week. noticed it slightly before this though hence question.

bighairymuppet 0 Posted August 4, 2004 it seems to be worse when startring but its still there after about 5mins idling . Put it this way i HOPE its condensation will have to wait till i can take it on a good run i supose. suppose i should watch water loss more closely, how much water loss if any is normal on these old valvers? bighairymuppet 0 Posted August 4, 2004 not even a drop... ho hum better keep an eye out then i suppose. If any water loss hsows is it worth trying radweld?
RadoAds 0 Posted August 4, 2004 Defo sounds like condensation especially if youve not taken it on a long run it builds up in the exhaust until it gets hot enough to evaporate, hope so anyway for your sake
bighairymuppet 0 Posted August 4, 2004 RadoAds, thanks dude , fingers , toes everything cross , hell if it was long enough id tie a not in that too... lol

bighairymuppet 0 Posted August 4, 2004 I know but was hoping if any water loss its not gasket and is somewhere else.... A guy can hope can't he. ( won't know till i keep a close eye on it once its back on the road anyway).

ben16v 0 Posted August 4, 2004 do a search on here for radweld, i vaguelly remember someone saying is it not good for our cars whats your milage? i always have some white smoke outta my exhausts, but dont lose coolant so figure its just steam also what tailpipe you got? upswept could possibly collect a bit of water in it and therefore produce steam as it heats up? just a guess.....
