B17 G60 replied to B17 G60's topic in Engine Bay
sorted as said checked the starter as u said got my mate to keep his foot on it whilst it was out and on the floor, it was working fine and popping in and out just fine. so greased it up abit and wd40'd it, put it back together and she started up fine without a hint of a problem, strange or what i'm also getting abit of trouble with getting my car into 1st gear, you have o push and nudge at it quite abit and then it goes in, every single other gear including reverse is fine, doe this sound like a linkage problem or box? my old box which blew a hole through it had the same problems of going into 1st gear, any ideas? don't think both the box's could be duff, i'm thinking the linkages if i is do i need the repair bit directly underneath the gearstick under the car, or the rods etc aswell? how much is it new? cheers again peeps, mucho appreciated :) -

hmmm, i took the starter motor off and left it connected with all the wires and the battery just sat it on the gearbox and when i tried turning the car over it didn't even go click click or anything it was silent. Took it out and put red an black jump lead on battery which was fully charged and put the red on the started where the big 13mm nut for the main positive wires go, and the black/neagtive i touched around the starter motor on every point an the 2 other small puch on connector terminals and on the casing and it didn't do anything at all. any ideas whats this mean? all i wanna know is if the starter motor is foooked or not so then i'll get a new one or whatever, strange though, its just given up if it has right out the blue, not even a sign or anything. any ideas peeps? p.s i tried wacking it with wood but nothing, so i thought i'd take it off -
basiclly was driving my car parked up in my garage and then tried to start about an hour later to go round my mates house, but it wouldn't do anything. When u de-immobilise it with the clifford virtual key, the fuel pump primes and you turn the key to start but all u get is a click from the starter motor. The battery is holding 12.4 volts of charge as i checked with a tester. What else could be wrong with it? this has just happened out the blue, only just had my new clutch kit and gearbox fitted into the car on monday which was 2 days ago. Was fine then and started etc no problems. any ideas? it won't turn over at all, when u turn the kay, all you get is a click from the starter and then you release the key and if i remember correctly it clicks again like its stuck or something or the battery is dead. any help appreciated folks, cheers

lovelly jubbly bud after all those messages, i think i finally get it, lol. All the fun of getting a new car lol anyway i'm off to bed now to think about mfa stalks and how to fit my fiat punto lay flat rear wiper properlly as the golf is totally new to me, seems like a world apart from my old rado g60 cheers again :)
-
no probs dude any new info can help change course of direction or make me investigate a new way of getting the problem fixed, so its all good as they say. When i push my mfa stalk towards the dash it doesn't want to stay clicked on, i can just push it towards the dash let go and it just comes back to standard place of the stalk it won't click and stay on then me push it forward again and it clicks back and stops the rear wiper going. i dunno, need to know exactly hwat style of wiper there supposed to have i guess. cheerd mate

how much of a later model mine is 1991 H registered and has KR lump fitted. Should this have it? cheers :)
-
ohhh ok, so basiclly you don't ever put the rear wiper on constantly then, you just push it forward and it squirts abit of water and wipes away and stops itself? ok might be my motor, gonna try and give it direct power from a battery and see if the wiper motor thing starts whizzing or spinning, hopefully its just that which is bodged and no wiring. cheers again dude, top bannana :)

i dunno mate fiddles with something on oil filter housing got in the car drove it up the road an back and it was working, so i aint complaining, lol The wiper relay hmmmm anyone know exactly what it looks like or colour? to put the rear wiper on do you pull the stalk back towards you? or push it away from you towards dash? when i do mine either way it doesn't click and stay there i.e pushed forward or backward it just comes back to standard position. So i could never ever put the rear wiper on constantly cheers again

hmmm after getting the oil temperature reading working i'm thinking my actual mfa stalk thing maybe mullered. When i pull it back towards me the rear water for the screen sprays but no rear wiper works. Also when i put the intermittent wiper on for front, i.e pull the stalk down, so the wiper comes on an off intermitentlly it just keeps going at the standard wiper setting, so going across the screen continuoslly without stopping. So basiclly my intermittent and my 1st click up up on the mfa stalk to have my front wipers working are both putting the wipers on continuouslly and i have no stop start or intermittent wiper? I do have the super fast wipers if the stalk is pushed all the way up, but both the other setting are continuous and the same. how much are these new any ideas? again shes a mk2 golf 16v 90 spec cheers again guys :( p.s the oil temp thing just started working after a little twiddle with the push on connector plugs on oil cooler housing, lol :D

sorry peeps, but yet another mk2 golf question. Does anyone know how to fit the the punto rear wiper so it lays flat on the rear tailgate? Seen someone on ebay selling it as a kit, but my mate reckons its just a case of changing the rear wiper to a punto rear wiper and lying it down or something. Does anyone know how to do this correctly so it still works etc properly, before team D.I.Y attack it, lol cheers :)

i know the car has oil in it thats not a problem, my bets are on the oil temp sensor being fubbared. Any ideas how much they are new? it wouldn't be the actual MFA stalk would it, like a wire come off it for the oil temp reading or something? basiclly is it usually the oil temp sensor that is commonly at fault? cheers

just started today, where is the sender for this oil temperature reading, may just change it. Could this also happen if the oil level has gone low? cheers
