  1. VW gave me my car back the other day and they couldn't find the fault despite driving it around which doesn't surprise me. They suggested one of their technicians comes with me one day while I'm driving so he can see it (!). I can desribe the fault down to every last detail, so why they want to do this I have no idea. It hasn't happened since though, but then I've only driven it twice since, but they said I need to keep monitoring it. Boo.
  2. I've had it since last August, it's now done 108,000 and it was last serviced by VW in St Albans.
  3. Hi guys, I hope some of you can help. Sometimes my engine in my 2.0 8v just cuts out. It seems more prone to it if the engine has been running for a while. It also only seems to happen at slow speeds or stop/starting. It'll all be fine and then the rev counter needle starts to judder and the battery and oil lights come on when the needle gets too low. If it gets too low altogether then the engine just cuts out (obviously). If I blip the throttle I can keep it going, but this is quite dangerous to do at traffic lights and such. I also noticed the other night that the headlights dim and flicker when it happens. I took it to a VW dealer (Wayside, St Albans) when I had it serviced, but they couldn't find the cause. On one occasion I had to have the AA out, and he said it might be the alternator and suggested I have a systems check run. Could there be many other causes? My dad mentioned something but I can't remember what, and I'm not too good with cars. Any help would be appreciated, because I'm thinking of taking it back to VW. Unless anyone can suggest any good specialists. Cheers.
  4. Chubbybrown: Because I've got the very rarest variant of a rare VW that they don't make anymore. Believe me, if I could pop down to Tesco and get one I would! dr mat: Do you remember names, numbers etc?
  5. Re subject. North London area preferably, but Australia is better than nothing at all. Help!
  6. Oh, I see. So it's a "feature". Oh well, I really thought a couple of bulbs had blown.
  7. Hiya peeps, this is my first post, and after just getting my first Corrado earlier this week, I'd like to say I think it's gorgeous and I love it to bits. Anyway! I'm a bit crap with cars, and I've noticed that after driving at night the heather control console isn't lighting up properly. The middle control is fine, but the two side ones aren't lighting up properly. Is it just a simple case of changing some bulbs? i've looked in the manual, but it just about describes how to change all the lights except these ones. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks muchly.
