  1. Hi all got a question for ya!!, Due to my Divorce I had to sell my beloved Rado!!, I am now running round in our old family 1.8T sat!! anyway, all that aside, I wanted to keep one of the bits I like best about the rado and see if I could make it work on the sat and that is the active rear spoiler (until I can afford another Rado!!) So here's the question, what makes the spoiler activate at speed? What I want to do is take an old rado boot and remove the rams that lift the spoiler, and then fit them to the spoiler on my passat..following so far? I think that bit will be relatively easy, and I guess i could get it to raise on a switch, but I want it to be trick and raise and lower on its own at speed. Any idea's people???? Thanks

    Have sprung a leak

Can't comment on the sump screws, maybe they are just not a very high torque, however the oil filter had not been on long, so would be easy to get off, its when people do them up too tight or do not lubricate the seal, that they are hard to remove
  3. I would expect to get 15 to 18 if i was thrashing it all the time, but its just returned 54 miles from the last £10 worth, and that is just normal driving to work, 7 miles each way, my 1.8T passat does 30 mpg doing the same trip, and thats got aircon!!
  4. The sensor is 18780 priced at £ 36.50+vat so with postage and VAT its almost £50!!!, still cheaper than VW, but not much I wonder if there is a way to check if it is working without buying a new one?
  5. Not wanting to be funny, but if you have never worked on a car before, do you really think the brakes are the best place to start? Its all very good taking the calipers off and stripping them, but if you get a seal in wrong, or don't get the system bleed properly it could be bad, VERY BAD! Oh, and on the advice of heating it with a blow torch :x ,be VERY carefull with that cause brake fluid is flamable, also don't get it on the paintwork, cause it will strip it straight off!!!
  6. Hi, Unfortunately pending divorce, and therfore massive economy drive is forcing me to sell my Corrado, but wondered on a price to set for sale? Its a 1992 2.0ltr 16V, Red, 17 inch BK racing alloys front tyres have maybe 1000 miles on them rear tyres around 200 miles ie almost new, 141K miles, I think the MOT runs out in July or August (i'll double check), Taxed until Dec Sony CD player, Infinity 6 x 9s in rear shelf JOM grill All electrics work fine recent work includes Head gasket (head was skimmed), new cambelt and tensioner, plugs, air filter, oil and filter, thermostat and Fan Switch in rad Has a CAT 1 Clifford alarm Any ideas on value please? Thanks
  7. As above, what year must a car have a CAT, and what happens come MOT time if you remove it? I was thinking about getting a CAT replacement pipe for mine, and just putting the CAT back on come MOT time?
  8. Thats just great that, when I was looking for a rado I passed loads of G60's and VR6 cause I though the valver would be better. I should have just looked with my loon head on and gone the whole hog, I always wanted a G60 anyway  Whats involved in the diesel swap? will it bolt straight to the sub frame etc? do the drive shafts fits?, Theres a 1.9 TDI on the ebay now for about 200 quid!! could be a summer project!!.
  9. Where do you get theis G12+ coolant from please?
  10. Damn!!!, I wonder if I could put a diesel in the Rado? Get the best of both worlds!
  11. Thats 30mpg which is all I would expect And Thats about 26mpg Hmm, something to think about I guess
  12. Hi, been measuring the MPG from my rado, it is averaging 25mpg, and that is not thrashing it, just my journey too and from work (7 mile each way) If I thrash it or use it around town it is terrible. Do you think 25 is too low, and if so, what do you suggest I look at? Its just had a new head gasket, timing belt, spark plugs and air filter If I can't get it up to 30 ish, I am gonna have to sell it and get a diesel
  13. did you ever start work on the Ashtray position two gauge holder? I want to fit a couple of gauges there and am in the market for said holder!!
  14. Thanks, I'll take a look at that one
  15. I was wondering how the fan switch works that is attached to the rocker cover on the 16v engines I take it is some sort of temperature activated switch, but is this based on engine bay temp or the rocker cover temp. The reason I am asking is that I believe mine is not working, as in tracffic the temp goes right up, to around 100 deg I have taken the wire off the switch and earthed it and the fan does come on, so either its broke, or as I have painted the rocker cover, perhaps its not seeing the correct temperature?
