REMOVING BOOST RETURN PIPES AND FITTING CONE FILTER IN WING?

The whole debris/grinding paste issue doesnt really worry me, what with 1500 mile rebuild intervals on the charger...........anyway if its good enough for Jeroen Dik( and its one of his airboxe,s the same as on his infamous Corrado) its good enough for me. Running a K&N cone filter the other side, with a modified BBM heatshield, as a temporay measure until I can get a proper carbon airbox fabricated. On the dyno the standard airbox proved to be a huge restriction with current engine spec.(0.1 bar boost less with the airbox in place). As for how loud it will be........dont really care to be honest, its a no compromise trackday car, but I'll tell you next week when its back on the road. 8) I might stick up a few proper pics then,as the setup in the pics is far from the finished spec. -

Have a look here....... 8) http://cars.vage.ie/invision/index.php?showtopic=8400 -
Yeah, Johnny seems to have quite a thing for blowing up KO4s! as for 220bhp maximum for FWD...........bollocks....LOL

Andy, I'm planning to keep the Ko4 on the Corrado for the time being, reason being is that its a trackday car,so to be honest 270 brake and a chassis capable of handling it is more desireable to me than 350 brake and have a machine only really suitable for sprints. The K26 and associated bits are going into the S3 in the next week or so,have had the gear for 3 weeks now, just havent had time to even think about fitting it,too busy with customer stuff. I wouldnt move the engine forward myself, the whole reason I built a Corrado was for the handling,a sorted car with the right chassis mods is capable of embarassing serious cars out on track(my mates 16vG60 has proved this several times)so I'll probably see how it manages the power it has at the moment and take it from there. As for the S3,no traction issues there! :D Tom

@Ruffy I've got a 20v Corrado almost finished(AGU motor,KO4,S3 injectors and ancillaries,Aquamist,DTA,oil cooler, custom front mount intercooler, chassis mounted O2M 6sp....)but I've also got an MTM S3,just after getting the big turbo upgrade(have to fit it yet)that runs the manifold you mention and a K26 turbo and external wastegate. Have you actually checked to see if this manifold will fit in a Corrado? The first thing I did was offer it up to see what it was like for room and it doesnt look like it will fit without serious bulkhead(and dash!)mods. I know the boys in Steath are working on a big turbo Corrado at the mo and they had to chassis mount the motor to get a bit more room for the downpipe. Check before you buy, that MTM manifold aint cheap 8)

Darren, Is the new cooler going to be shorter than the Sprinter cooler fitted to your own car? IE will the pipe coming from the drivers side of the intercooler come out on the engine bay side of the chassis leg rather than underneath it ? What height/thickness do you intend to use? Also,do you still have a front bumper bar on your own car? I'm currently building an S3 engined O2M 6 speed box Corrado and the Sprinter cooler(used very successfully in some big power Golfs belonging to a few mates of mine,I might add)doesnt seem overly suited to my particular application. thanks Tom

I'd be interested in two. :)
