I have got a problem with my speedo. basically every time i drive for a while all will seem fine then all of a sudden my speedo just seems to start going crazy, it will start fluctuating from whatever speed i an doing right up to 140, then back again, then it will drop to zero and shot back up again. i have also noticed that this now affects the rear spoiler which now keeps randomly popping up and down as the speedo fluctuates. Could it just be that there is some dirt or a loose conection inside the plug from the sender??? anyone else had any problems such as this???

ok will check the CV joints first then i guess! if it has gone then they will have leaked all the fluid i guess?
-
so could a knakered CV joint give the same sort of drone as a wheel bearing then! just thought the guy that looked at it yesterday may have spoted if the Cv joint was knakered????
-
have just had the tyre changed, definatly not that, The drone is exactly the same as a shot wheel bearing would sound when i turn left it gets louder and right it almost stops, but is def not the wheel bearing. I have noticed when its cold i do get a bit of a clunky knocking from somwhere behind my pedals but once warmed up it stops????????????? could this be the driveshaft clunking a bit???
-
have tried droping the clutch and the noise does not disappear! it has to be along the driveshaft somewhere???????

Hi got a quick question for anyone who can answer it really. I have just had my car back from the garage as thought my front driver side wheel bearing had gone again but only had it replaced 3 months ago. The gargage say they have striped it down and its definatley not the wheel bearing. He said there is possibly a bearing between the Driveshaft and the gearbox that could be shot that would seem and sound very similar to a wheel bearing. Does anyone where or what this bearing is called and can i get it changed without totally striping down the gearbox. need advice on this if anyone knows? could i even need a new gearbox altoghether???

So and pump from a 8v GTi will not work then??
-
Can anyone tell me if the external fuel pump for a 16v Corrado is the same as the fuel pump used on Golf Gti's or for that matter any other VW Mine has gone and am trying to source a cheap one for a quick fix.
-
My gearbox on my corrado 1.8 16v went pop last week and was wondering if anyone could advise me as to what gearbox can use to replace it. ie. do i need to source one directly from another corrado or can i use one out of a Mk2 Golf perhaps!!! as they are not as few and far between as the corrado! any suggestions greatly appreciated! Cheers

Just got back from a 3930 mile trip round europe in the trusty 16v which was totally problem free and within 100 miles of been back at home the fuel pump went this morning on the way to work! at least i'm presuming its the fuel pump as yesterday it kept cutting out and juddering really heavily when pulling away and i noticed when i parked up a serious whining noise coming from underneath the car in front of the back wheel, when i tapped the pump which was whining it stopped for a bit before starting again. anyway this morning i had just filled up with fuel and as i was pulling away, judder judder DONK! anyway managed to roll her into the garage next door lucky for me. anyway have asked the guy to give me a quote on the pump, anyone got any ideas on what this will cost???????

Okl cheers folks will get the tracking sorted in the moning and try the spare too!

I have just had a bearing changed on my front passanger wheel as it was droning quite badly. Problem is it is still droning quite badly and im due to take it round europe for a month next week!!!!!! I have noticed that when i hold the steering wheel straight it is pulling loads to the right. Im presuming this is the tracking that is way off but could it also be this that is causing this drone. Apart from that it runs really smoothly. no vibrations or anything. Any advice greatly taken as have only 7 days till im due to leave! Cheers FTM1975
