Theres only 50k on her!

Hi guys, I have recently become the proud owner of a '95 green storm vr6 having waited five years to afford a good one and the INSURANCE (not cheap in Northern Ireland!). Anyway, the head gasket went last week (no skimming required thankfully!). Im wondering whether there is any other work I should have the mechanic do to the engine etc whist she's partially striped down anyway. Any suggestions would be most appreciated, being new to VW ownership I am still finding my feet. Cheers
