hi, may need a bit of help with a problem, my oil level seems to have raised a bit and smells of petrol, car runs perfect no missfires, and still pulls very strong on the road, put car on an exhaust gas analizer, co at tick over perfect, hc at 67 ppm so all thats going in apears to be getting burnt, at tick over at least, did a compression test and got between 110 and 120 psi on all cyliders which the autodater book says is right so no pistonring trouble, do not know what to do next, any ideas?. car has r1 charger, 68mm pulley&chip [jabba] front mount intercooler.

i agree with g60jay timings out, engine will run much hotter if valve timing or ignition timing is out

drink tea , talk cars, sounds ok to me, let us know when.

yes inbetween rad and grill, made no difference to water temps what so ever, only covers top half of rad, bottom still in the fresh air, i did mine like this so i could keep car looking original, from the outside at least.

dont know about hp gain before & after as i have never had it rolling roaded, but the car definatly felt stronger especialy at low revs, alot more torque { even my wife noticed it felt different } posted some pic in members gallery under my yellow g60

heres afew pic of my g60, present spec is jabba r1 charger, chip & 68mm pulley jabba induction kit & heatsheild forge alloy intercooler with custom steel piping bahn brenner rsr charger outlet milltec stainless exhaust with cat removed full leather interior

the intercooler i used was the alloy intercooler universal type 2 610x160x74mm, i then used 2 90-deg reducing elbows bore size 60x51mm to & from the intercooler to my home made steel piping, then 1 90-deg elbow from piping to throttle body, to fit the intercooler in i had to remove the front panel stiffner just behind the grill, then the plastic ducting bolted to the rad, then make up some brackets to bolt the intercooler to the rad, the rad is still in its original place, it is a tight fit either side of the rad but is in the perfect place right behind the grill, only had to remove the bumper to fit, will get some pics tomorrow when it stops raining

g60dan, it was me you was talking to at national day with forge intercooler can sort out part number if you like, quite easy to fit, cost about £250 all in with samcos, but i made my own steel pipes up, although power flow said they would make some up if i took car over to one of their branchs, also i piped mine up without a 180 bend , made quite a difference, a lot more torque, will sort some pics out this weekend if anyone is interested
