I had the front and rear screens put through whilst the car was on my drive , and the cost through the insurance would have come to over £750.00 so they wanted to wright off the car for glass ! no other damage had been done , needless to say i sourced the glass myself and it came to less so all was good. Hope it all comes good for you .

Sorry to seem like resurrecting this thread but how did it all turn out? got to the last post and it just stopped would realy like to see how it ended . Awesome guide and full of incite into what i would love to do one day . Regards Adam

hello just for your info vr6 callipers and carriers are the same just use the g60 disks... this may help you find them as vr's are more common in my opinion.. regards adam

is it possibal to fit a vr6 alternator to a valver if so what is the likley increase in wattage if any ? the reason i ask is that when driving at night with lights on and radio on my horn is like a mouse squeek unlike during the day . or has anyone have any ideas on what could be the problem. regards adam

hello my brother in law has just got a mk2 golf gti as a project . he payed £230.00 for it . we have taken out the interior including the dash . he has now gone on to find a hole in the fire wall on the engine side and he has now lost all intrest in the project and now wants to brake it and sell the parts . the question im asking is would it be possibal to weld a plate over the hole or would it need a new firewall putting in . or it it only worth braking for the parts ? regards adam

ok im well and truly in a daze . i have change the box as it turns out it was the cables and not the cogs . right now im in pain as the glove box was being stuborn and needed erm tickling to get it out think i might have a broken knuckel o well the joys of my C . i changed the box and kept my matrix as i have got no probes with it at the mo. the thing is now i have a metalic rattel .i turn the radio up and its gone. i think my C has fallen out with me for fixing her . now its time to have a drink thanks for your help regards adam

hi got my windscreen through my insurance and it cost me £60.00 . i asked how much it would have cost and the said it was around £400.00 for the glass and 3 hours labour and would require 2 staff so the charge would be around £30.00 per hour per person. so going through the insurance is the way to go. just if you do end up going to autoglass to get it done sign the inspection sheet before the work is carryed out .their suposed to mark down any scratches or scuff marks before they do the work so they cant be blamed later

hello after reading about the possibility of changing the inlet cam on my 9a 2ltr 16v engine for the inlet cam from the kr engine i started wondering what are the benefits and what are the down sides to this mod . for example is their an increase in bhp and if so around how much ? any how many thanks regards adam

Hello this might seem a little dim (sorry about the pun) but is the center console on the early interior ment to be iluminated as the C i have at the moment is my first and for as long as i have had it it has not had iluminations behind the center console. If its ment to light up whears the best place to start looking for the fault . many thanks regards adam

hello i have just spent around 5 hours trying to sort out a problem with my rear breaks . i got rear discs , calipers, hand break cables and bearings wich i got from gsf . then having got the first disc off and then spotted some thing i was unawair of this beeing the abs speed sensor ring . how do i remove this to replace it on the new discs or do i need to get new ones .? are they still made ? and are they a vw only part . has any one else had this problem . regards adam
