    VR Died on me

Job done  It was the fuel pump after all Did all the relevant checks.... fuse ok,relay ok, voltage to pump ok. The final test was putting 12v direct from the battery to the pump connector in the boot and it was lifeless. The tricky bit was twisting the pump anti-clockwise to release it from the bayonet fitting in the tank. I didn't want to put too much pressure on it incase I damaged the sender unit , but it needed quite a bit of torsion to get it released and as it happened the fuel level was low anyway. Simple installaton and she fired up a treat Check fuse 18 Check relay J17 position 12 or bottom row far right :salute: thanks for the help and comments

    VR Died on me

Driving to work this morning and my 95 VR6 cut out suddenly. :( Tried to start it but with no luck. ended up being towed back home Lots of battery power but fails to start. Decided to Removed the two fuel pipes from the injector rail , turned the engine over but no fuel came out of any of them. :confused4: Could this mean a failed fuel pump,a blocked filter,a blown fuse, a faulty relay,????? Looking for any suggestions here???? also need to know where the fuel pump is exactly.....Is it in the boot.above the fuel tank????.unlike the Golf GTI which is underneath the car...Also does it have a lift pump inside the fuel tank ???? :help:
  4. Thanks for that but the fuse is ok. I took the plastic covers of the steering column to expose the reader coil , isn't it a ring shaped device the around ignition barrel ? so I followed the thick black lead from it to under the dash and unplugged the small plug tha goes into a box,It looked ok but sprayed some WD on it just incase. the problem seems to have gone for now. I also found a small switch under the steering column (see pic) Does anyone know what it might be for?? its about an inch long and has two wires going into a loom
  5. Thanks mate will do :notworthy:
  6. Hi , when I turn the key to start my '95 VR6 the engine starts for two seconds and cuts out. Whats puzzling is that when it starts It revs up easily without any kind of miss and then just dies. This occurs mostly when the weather is hot or sunny ,I can sometimes try to start it ten times until its ok and keeps running. I know that the ignition switch is a bit dodgy which might be the problem, or it might be the Clifford Concept thats installed on it. I changed the blue sensor thinking it may be that and the ignition leads and plugs Should I go for the ignition switch to try to solve this or might anyone have other ideas This is quite embarrassing and certainly annoying at times

    Missing engine

Thanks for your comments chaps, Praps I should have mentioned that part of the maintenance was installing a brand new Jetex cat back system, It does mention in the instructions that there is less back-pressure so some adjustments might have to be made but I would assume the ECU would automatically do all of this. I have got all the hardware an leads to connect the car to my laptop but the VAG COM software is not activated :( any suggestions on what i could do? As you mentioned going for a good blast ,would this be the answer? or is it a definite VAG COM job I also changed the rear axle bushes and the radiator the same time. The rear axle bushes were a Barstuard to get out and back in again but its all done now after making a VAG tool to do the job
  9. I have just completed some maintenance on my 95 Corrado,it was in the garage for almost two weeks. When all the work had been done I noticed the battery was flat and had to charge it for half an hour to get it started. The car now has a slight miss at high revs, does this mean the ecu has lost its values and I have to go thru the ECU reset procedure or might it be another problem.
