I am new to the forum and looking for some help solving my low oil pressure problems on my 1990 G60 Corrado.
I bought this Corrado many years ago now. I had the low oil pressure light come on driving the thing home. But I had planned on rebuilding the engine and supercharger anyway so it really was not a big concern. I measured the pressure and got 27 PSI at 2000 RPM when the oil is at operating temperature. The books say that it should be a minimum of 29psi (2.0 bar) at this time. When the engine is cold the pressure is 80psi or so. When warm and at idle the pressure is very low like 15psi
I first replaced the oil and filter, then the oil pump, then I rebuilt the entire engine, and still had practically the same pressure. I have a VDO gage and a fairly decent mechanics pressure gage that both read read 28PSI at 2000 rpm at operating temperature. This was the pressure right after the engine was rebuilt. After 2000 miles on my rebuild I have what I believe to be a spun bearing or something else bad.
I am thinking now that the low oil pressure could be caused by: a crack or leak in an oil passage, leaking piston oil sprayer, leak between the oil pump and crankcase(there is not a gasket for this!) or something else?
If you have a g60 with a pressure gage could you let me know what your pressure is on your engine with warm oil and at 2000 rpm?
