  1. Hello. I cant seem to find what the normal temperature for a vr6 is. I think mine mite be getting too hot. It sits at about 100 water and 100 oil when im just sitting in traffic water goes to 110 and oil goes to 110 to 118 when i start driving, even just pottering along in 5th, but it cools down again when i stop and let it idle. its got a new water pump and a recent oil cooler. Mite be normal but just seems a bit hot to me. Can anyone throw any light on the subject please??
  2. it does it at all revs. its a regular tap that gets faster with the engine revs. i hd another listenand i can hear it the loudest down by the drivers wheel sort of area. i just put a new water pump on last week so i know it isnt that.
  3. Happy new year everyone!!!! Ive got an intermittent tapping noise on my vr6. sometimes it sounds sweet as a nut but sometimes a tapping noise fades in and becomes quite loud. it will continue for a while (few minutes or so) then fade out again It sounds like it coming from somewhere near the timing chain sort of area or somewhere around there. it never seems to affect the running of the engine but it makes my car sound like a bag of sh*t!! It sounds to me like its either tappets or timing chain but i dont see why it would be intermittent and it worries me that something really bads gonna go wrong with it. has anyone had anything similar and fixed it? is it somthing i can do myself? ive read a couple of posts about timing chain noise and listened to a little sound clip but i wasnt sure if it was the same noise as mine or not. Cheers

    vr6 water pump

Merry Xmas folks n happy new year!!! Not so merry for my vr6 tho : xmas eve water pump died. anyone changed one themselves? ive read youve gotta loosen mounts n jack the engine up but it looks like itll have to come up quite a way so just wonderin if anyones done it themselves and has any tips. cheers in advance
  6. Thanks folks, was isv. cleaned it up and car now idles fine when its cold.
  7. hello ive also got another vr6 problem which i cant find out much about. sometimes it wont start - ive got the cap off the fuel pump relay and i can see that the times the car doesnt start its because the relay isnt connecting. it only deos it sometimes but ive tried 3 different relays and i keep gettin the same problem, which leads me to beleive its not the relay but something before that which controls it. when it doesnt start i have to keep turning the ignition on and off and watching for the time the relay clicks - then it starts anyone else had similar or able to help??
  8. hello everyone i'm new to this so please nobody shout at me and tell me to use the search! ive searched here and google and cant really find out what i need. got a 95 corrado vr6. it has trouble ticking over when its cold - i need to keep my foot on the gas or it cuts out. if im really gentle releasing the gas it will idle but at 400 or so rpm. its like the automatic choke isnt working (if it has such a thing)it seems to run perfectly once its been running for a minute or 2. ive found people talking about idling problems when the cars hot and fine when its cold but mine seems to be the opposite to this. ive changed the main temp sensor in the therostat n it made no difference, ive also looked around my vacuum hoses and they all seem in tact with no splits thanks in advance
