Thanks for the reply! I'll take notice of how the old stat is placed and put the new one back in the same position. I'm asking because someone told me that it could be wrongly installed, causing overheating. Could this happen?

I'm about to replace the thermostat on a VR6. Is it at all possible to place the thermostat wrong in the thermostat housing, e.g. backwards etc? :confused4:
