At last - a thread where I can actually add something and know what I'm talking about! Weighed my VR6 on newly calibrated weighbridge last year 1220kg with quarter tank of fuel and 17" alloys (probably a touch heavier than Speedlines?) so I'd say 1210 standard is spot on. Mk2 Golf with a VR in the engine bay weighs 1180kg (if anyone's interested) Me without a car came in at 85kg so perhaps the bridge was over-reading :?

£1500 which included the remainder of the warranty (about 2 weeks). Not thinking of selling yours, Ben. I'd be tempted if my car sells!
-
Not sold the car yet, funky - but then I haven't been trying too hard! I can think of worse cars to be stuck with. The charger sold this morning - shame - would have gone nicely on the Golf.

Just taken the 'charger off of my C. Took some figures last year using a Race Technology performance meter that is surprisingly accurate. I've seen 2 independant reviews on it and tried it out on a few different cars and got remarkably similar times to the magazine and manufacturers quoted figures. Anyway, my C with Z Engineering ZR2 supercharger did; 257bhp, 233lbft (although the same kit has given 274bhp on another car at Stealth) 0-60 in 6.1 (not being totally unsympathetic to the drivetrain) 0-100 in 14.3 (about 4 secs up on standard) standing quarter in 14.5 (all on not particularly sticky tyres) Not sure that I'd recommend spending £2500 - £3000 on one, however, get yourself a low miles secondhand kit for £1500 and you're laughing (mine's just sold - I think - but they are about). Impreza drivers will hate you.

standard 0-60 times... mines weird but good!

I've tested mine to destruction (literally - new cv joints) using a Race Technology Performance Meter. This is a fantastic toy at about £140 - check out the website http://www.race-technology.com The kit has been independantly tested by Redline mag :? (I know - but I skimmed through it once in WHSmiths) along with a couple of competitors and was found to be accurate to within a tenth of a second on the 0-60 and 2 tenths on the quarter mile compared to the GPS based system used by most magazines nowdays. Anyway, after dozens of attempts on various surfaces and with differing amounts of wheelspin off the line I've got a best of; 0- 60 = 6.13 secs. 0-100 = 14.30 secs. Quarter mile = 14.62 secs @ 102mph I should point out that my car isn't quite standard spec (check out cars for sale) with a Stealth measured 257bhp and 233lbft. So - if you can get 6.5 sec 0-60's from your 16v you're doing pretty well!! In fact if you can verify that with my Race Technology kit I'll swap motors with you and pay your insurance, road tax, council tax, income tax....... :D :D :D I'd wager it's more like 9 secs if you're having to change into 3rd before you hit 60. - Still not too shabby for a sub 2 litre front driver. -
Quite right - get on a race track - the best and safest way to battle someone (although track days are officially non-competitive  ) I know I've bragged about this elsewhere but I've surprised a Scooby WRX STi and Honda NSX on the circuit. How about a forum track day? Just a thought - and you'd have to let Golfs come if my car ever sells!!
-
My two pennies worth; Get a Z-Engineering 'charger fitted to a VR6, some brakes that work and you'll be as quick (in the dry at least) as an NSX or Scooby WRX STi. I've proved it at Snetterton on an Evo Active trackday. NSX driver was understandably miffed. As luck would have it there's a nice red VR so equipped in 'cars for sale'

Don't know if you'd be interested or not but mines for sale at the moment, see http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=4444 Let me know if you are - we might be able to come to some arrangement. Cheers, Mark

Not sure whose Golf it was but sure it did 272bhp, which kept the smile on corradovr6sc's face! - nice one 8) and a good advert for the Z kit. Mine did 256 so they give a good 60-70 over standard. Don't want to sell it now though :( Just got to suss out where my missing 18 horses are  Big cheers to funky for putting it all together and also Kev and Steve for leading the way there.

Not completely sure which petrol station you mean - and I live 'round here  The Brampton Hut Services (BP petrol station next to a Travelodge) is the easiest and on the way for all of us. It's on the roundabout where the A14 goes under the A1. O.k. to meet there? Thanks, Mark.

KEVHAYWIRE - I wouldn't mind meeting up and following you there, my sense of direction leaves a lot to be desired! Any idea on a rendezvous time and place yet? Cheers, Mark.
-
Can I book 2 places - if it's o.k to bring the Mk2 Golf VR along aswell. I'll put a check in the post tonite for £20 and if you'd rather keep the day to C's only that can be full payment for my day - if that's alright. Cheers.

Any places still available on 19th Oct? I've got a supercharged Corrado VR at the moment so would like to see if it 'does wot it says on the tin'. The C is up for sale (check out the classifieds) so if there are spaces can I still come in a Mk2 Golf VR if my baby has gone by then? The Golf's got a Corrado interior
