  1. the stub axle has snapped on the front ns CV joint. Ive got the drive shaft removed from the hub assembly but cant get the cv joint off the end of the drive shaft. Ive been beeting it with a hammer and chisel but it wont budge!!!!!
  2. Cheers guys. Its the front nearside. I take it that the whole indicator just pulls out then?
  3. Ok daft question. Indicator is bulb blown. How the hell do you get to the indicator????????? Embarrased :help: !
  4. I know theres extensive discussion before. I want to get one put in and want the job done completely. Ive heard PSI can do the job.
  5. Thanks Next step to do a compression test. Just for info ive learned the hard way. Middle sprocket timing setup does make a differance on the vr6. Timing mark appears every 2nd rotation of the crank. this is due to odd differance in teeth on input / output centre sprockets.
  6. If its the ABS warning light thats coming on. First port of call would be to check the abs sensors, Theres one on each of the front brakes.
  7. Ok getting closer to my previous problem. Ive replaced head gasket, but when I set the timing I didnt realise you had to take into account the intermediate sprocket. Ok Ive now set the timing how it should be but I,m still getting knocking from the top end of the engine. The timing will have been 1 tooth out on each camshaft. Is this enough to bend a valve?
  8. Thanks Guys I,m going to get back under the bonnet in the morning. I'll post a reply to how I get on.
  9. Nobody in there right mind wouldnt "noever be bothered" to set the cam timing. If you were reading it right you would understand I have timed it up but something wasnt right. Yes Ive made a mistake by overlooking the unique intermediate timing sprocket steup on a vr6. Obviously you dont understand this aswell otherwise you would have pointed me in the right direction. May I suggest if you cant help then in future you dont take the p*** with derogatory bovered comments To all those who have offered help, as always its much appreciated
  10. almost sure that the intermediate timing is out. Its not a gasket blowing sound, but the engine sounding just like a diesel. Still any help and advice will be appreciated Thanks for the help guys
  11. The engine now sounds like a very loud diesel. I,m 100% sure all head bolt torque settings are correct. I,m thinking maybe the cams are out of synch or maybe the timings out. I know the notches in the ends of the cams should line up but they are slightly different.(they were when i took it apart) and not enough to be a full tooth out. Is there any good references for setting up timing? I,m Lost HELP Please
  12. Because number 4 injector is staying open constantly pouring fuel into the cylinder. Ive checked the injector, this is Ok. The injectors have a switched earth through the ecu ( Someone correct me if I,m wrong please ) all earths are around 60 Ohms, but on this number 4 its around 7 Ohms. Its not a wiring loom fault as they all return to infinity when i disconnect the ecu.
  13. Is this model definately coded? Can I still have mine reconditioned if it is?
  14. Ok Ive now concluded my ecu is broke. It comes from a M reg 2.9 vr6 storm. Vw code is 021 906 258 CP. Can I use any other ecu eg from a 2.8 golf etc or does it speciffically have to be that one? Has anyone had a replacement / rebuild what or who is the best / cheapest option? Or if you have a spare or one for sale I may take it off your hands!
  15. Number 5 injector is open constantly and pouring too much petrol into the cylinder. The injector is Ok. They appear to work with a constant 12volt supply and a switched earth (presumably through the ecu) all other injectors are around 60 ohms to earth with ignition on but number 5 injector is around 6 ohms. all are infinate when ignition is off, suggesting its not a wiring fault. Is this my ecu? can they be repaired? If not where can i buy one and how much are they?
