  1. Well ive had my 2l valver a month or so now, few niggles need sorting... mainly stuff which was 'apparently' done just before i bought it. Put out 130hp 3 times on the rollers with a slightly oily dizzy and manky plugs. Not to bad for a 16 year old car! Fueling is 100% if anything its running really lean. (but i still get crap MPG lol). Took it for the MOT and it passed straight through :D. Though i do have one emmissions related query... Theyre a bit fubar! In terms of testing for the MOT... The lambda was red in the red at idle but the C0 etc were perfect. Bring the revs up the lambda goes in the green and the C0 jumps into the red. Any sugguestions as to why? Ive whacked some exhaust sealant around all the connections for the exhaust as i think there maybe a slight leak? Any suggestions to why the CO and Lambda readings are a bit weird?? 12 Months happy motoring at least! woop.
  2. No pics, just a long snorkel from the front which has a flap at the end to control airflow? Then the small snorkel leading out to go to the throttle body. The flap links up to the throttle body, it doesn't move when reving... Just restricts airflow... I figured it would open on throttle but nope.
  3. Will I lose the flap? I don't want to damage anything to much... Do i hammer the snorkel towards the front of the car or just left and right? Sorry to ask simple questions lol
  4. Sorry to raise the dead. I really hate having a drilled box (apart from the sound). I've got plenty of fibre glass for a job repairing some rust on the car so was thinking of using it to cover the drilled holes until I can get a new box. I am a believer in removing the snorkels n running a panel, done this on all my cars. How exactly does the front one pull out of the corrado? Had a go today but no luck? The flap is connected to it... I don't think I want to be removing that too??
  5. The oil was all around the threads if that helps? If the seals have gone what's the score? Does that mean the rocker may have been replaced?? I agree about the servicing, but I was under the impression it had just been done plus loads more. Especially according to the for sale thread and prev owners posts.
  6. Assuming stafford16v was telling the truth about the servicing... The plugs look manky and there's plenty of oil on them... So new plugs n rocker after it was done 2k ago? Dizzy had a nice 5-10ml of oil in too... These definitely last more than 2k, can you get the seal for the engine or is it a new unit? Head on it's way out? Or a dodgy mechanic not pulling his weight? Got the car dyno'd 130bhp and fuel wise it's running lean, perfect. Though it is leaking coolant from the head to the matrix.
  7. http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... 13&t=97430 I said i would take the coilovers and top mounts from this guy. So agreed price and made payment via paypal as agreed. Kept getting excuses as to why they were not off the car and posted yet. (fine - dont get me wrong people do have other commitments). But then i started to wonder as time passed i never heard anything. Then after a couple of prompts i got a PM saying the guy no longer has the vehicle and he will pay me the money back if i make the paypal request. Excellent... 2 weeks later... still nothing... No PM response, no email response and no response in the thread. I am prepared to go pay a visit to get my money back but dont think its necessary. I paid £75 so it is quite a bit to lose (especially as im a student). This is my first buying experience on Corrado forum (apart from buying the car) and its a shame that it has come to this. Ive made private internet purchases for years and never had a problem. If anyone knows 'Barkshire' please pass me his mobile or address. Or kindly give him a kick in the backside and tell him to get a move on with the payment.
  8. They even sort out Allen heads? Any one got info in the tread size etc to replace the bolts? Thanks for the above
  9. I attempted this today. Easy as pie job... apart from the carrier bolts being allen heads... WHY!! Got one side off, even though one bolt was already butchered. The other side is impossible... Both bolds have been destroyed, anyone have any suggestions on a good tool to sort out dead bolts on these cars? Access is restricted to say the least! I am hoping to replace the bolts can they be sourced from VW? What are the specs if i got them from an independant company? My ETKA isnt working :(. Well hacked off :( freezing cold and the only day in a while i could replace the discs/ pads and bushes :(. Current discs are pooped.
  10. I am keen as I need the timing and fuelling sorted out anyway! Just don't have the funding at the moment.
  11. Could be wrong, I was always thought that clutches need time to bed in... So may slip to start with...
  12. Definitely check the ISV my car would not start without fully opening the throttle, cleaned out the ISV and it now starts with the turn of the key.
  13. How accurate is the fuel gauge? I do 150 motorway miles at mostly 65mph and 50 town miles to a tank... Which is horrendous... I've driven the car up to 220 miles on a tank but chicken out because the gauge is low lol. I need the ignition and fueling sorted but no ££ at the mo, the exhaust coughs every time I take my foot off the throttle.
  14. Ive come from a mapped tdi ibiza to a 2l 16v corrado. The midrange torque is definately a great perk IMO... but when giving it some beans i think a kettle can boil in the time it takes to get to 5.5k let alone further! (maybe its because im running 17s???) Theyre an awsome car i think, but if you want a fast car i would probably go VR or G60... Theyre quick enough for every day situations but wouldnt want to race for slips lol. If the car makes it through the winter months and i tidy up a few issues then the KR or ABF cam will be coming i think. I will say one thing though... i think round the bends this thing makes up for being not that quick in a straight line. Theyre an awsome car! Get one :D
